JULY 2008 And, I don't mean political change and what's all over the media right now with the 08 elections. We'll have to wait and see on that one. After months and months of writing, recording, planning and creating we finished our latest record, We.Want.Change. We kicked off the new disc in style with a local release concert in OKC at the Plaza Theater. The show was one of our best yet and much thanks to my best buds (d, ben, vern) and our guest appearances (kelsey humphreys, lucas ross, aubrey kingcade, cynthia smith). It was a true collaboration, which is really why the album, release concert and our momentum is going so well right now. We've already been getting some national attention from the cd, which feels pretty rewarding after the long and drawn out process of a full length album and just when we want to take a break is when the real work starts. Now it is time to promote, tour, market, claw and scrape to get this music in your hands, your friends hands and maybe even your grandma's hands. You know she'll like it. Anyway, the new cd is done therefore if you don't already have a copy...what are you waiting for? So, dfest ended up being a blast as always. The Roots killed it Saturday night (their guitarist will blow your mind) and I got to see an OKC fav, Aranda. If you haven't seen these dudes play you should check them out. And speaking of guitarists Dameon Aranda is a complete madman on the guitar. At one point his guitar was laying on the ground and he took off his boot and completely wailed on that thing...unbelievably cool! While at the fest we met Frank Mitchell, local weather man for Tulsa's channel 8. He interviewed us for the six o'clock news and then came out to our show that night. Frank is a really fun, cool guy. He and his wife jammed out with us and it was nice to make some new friends in t-town. The week before dfest we were at the Porter Peach festival where we made even more new friends (my favorite part of what we do...meeting new interesting people) and my wife Mandy sold “Stansberry Jam”. It isn't just a clever name, but literally like eating peach cobbler out of a jar. Really great tasting stuff, so me and the guys are proud to be a part of the goodness. So, until next time, check out Aranda, buy our new album, eat some Stansberry Jam and get out and catch some local art...bands, theater, dancing, paintings, whatever...it is all eye opening and there is truly some amazing “undiscovered” talent lurking in every corner of our world.
