MY LAST MSB BLOG: FIVE GREAT YEARS HAVE COME TO AN END...

I won't lie, this is a sad moment for me, not because the four of us didn't get along or because we broke up on bad terms, but because I spent five years leading this band and many times following this band through the highs and lows and lived and breathed every moment. We toured Japan, Hollywood, SXSW, the Midwest/Southwest and released two full-length albums and an EP. We accomplished a whole heck of a lot for some friends just meeting in college. Although we were never featured on MTV or performed to sold out crowds of 20,000 screaming fans, we did do all of the same things those types of bands do, just at a much smaller and much more intimate level. It's funny though, because those things for me were just hype...yeah, it's cool and yeah it was really fun and was our driving force, but what made this group special is all of the things that people really didn't see or may have not noticed. We never cussed in our music or on stage, we took every performance seriously and didn't give any second rate efforts, we built a sign that flashed M-S-B, made costumes and had friends created cartoons of us, music videos for us and we met all kinds of crazy, weird, amazing and inspiring people from all over the country and world...and I could keep going, but you get the point...we were different.

I am forever grateful to the people I met and for all the people who spent time to come to shows, book us, meet with us and take time to nurture our dreams...especially my dad, mom and wife, Mandy and of course our beloved fans! We did something very special and I hold my head high with pride when I think of what I was able to do with this group. So, with that, cheers to three of my best friends and an amazing five years!

Also, I would like to use this space for a special thanks to all the musicians who shared the MSB dream during the past five years. I would like to mention a handful of them by name - Denver Greene, Ben Tinius, Grant Stevens, Chris Verner, Janoah Jackson, Cary Hawkins, Kyle Granger and Kyle Martin! Thank you! - Matt
